Lowell sa at Pluto fantes, Clyde W. Tombaugh oppdaget den 18. februar, 1930. Den fikk navn etter den romerske gud over underverdenen.

24. august 2006 ble Pluto deplanetisert, og er nå bare, like it or not, en dvergplanet i Kuiper beltet .
Ikke særlig mer enn klinkekuler noen av dem, når de ligger sånn, slengt på et bord.
Himmel legemer som kan bli oppgradert til planeter av IAU, International Astronomical Union, i overskuelig framtid. Er de bedre en Pluto liksom? Diskutabelt sett fra Texas, Norge, Jorden.
